Jobeth Johnson, MSW, LCSW
Hi, I’m Jobeth Johnson! I’m a LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) who loves providing therapy, clinical supervision, consultation to other clinicians, and Toy Story. I am very passionate about helping kids, teenagers, adults, and families feel better, so they cope with the stressors of everyday life. These stressors can result in anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, ADHD, obsessive compulsive thoughts, and/or trouble adjusting to difficult situations. This love of helping others derives from witnessing my own family’s personal ethics and morals while growing up.
I implement specific modalities that can include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Strengths Based Therapy, and/or Solutions Focused Therapy. I feel it is very important to modify every person’s treatment due to their personal situations, concerns, and needs.
I have worked as a therapist for 15 years in a variety of settings. That experience and knowledge will allow me to best help you and your personal needs. My job included 14 years as a home-based therapist; 8 years of that as a school-based therapist; and 6 years during that time as an office based therapist. (Yes – they overlap because I could be school based and still be doing home visits at the same time.)
Background:
I graduated from Anderson University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in Family Science. I went straight to Indiana University (in Indianapolis) and completed my Master’s in Social Work (MSW) in 2006. I then proceeded to work at the same agency for 15 years. I worked with adults, but mainly with children, adolescents, and families with severe mental health needs here in Columbus, IN. During my time at my previous employment, I provided clinical supervision to staff and interns, as well as served as a manager for the Child and Family Team.
BA in Family Science: Anderson University – 2004
Master of Social Work: IUPUI – 2006
Licensed Clinical Social Worker: 2010
TF-CBT Trained: 2012
Motivational Interviewing Training: 2010
Life can be stressful and at times overwhelming. Sometimes it can feel like you are carrying a heavy weight on your shoulders. I want to help you lift that weight. I am passionate about working with children, teens, and adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, and mood disorders, as well as those struggling to cope with everyday stressors. I tailor my therapeutic approach to each client I work with, whether that involves talk therapy, play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, or a combination of different strategies. Not sure which approach is right for you? We will work together to find the best fit.
I am also passionate about providing supervision and consultation to clinicians who are working toward licensure. I have worked in a variety of settings with different client populations and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer those who are new to the field.
I graduated from Xavier University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. I then completed my Masters in Social Work at Indiana University, where I graduated in 2013. I spent the next 3 years working with adults with severe mental illness in an outpatient setting. I moved to Columbus, IN in 2016 and spent the next year working with adolescents in a residential setting. I spent the next 4 years working with children, teens, and their families, as well as providing clinical supervision to staff, in an outpatient setting. I have been serving children, teens, and adults through CCP for the last year and a half. I look forward to continuing to serve our community through our practice.

I know that life is not always easy and it can be even more difficult when you don’t feel right mentally. Sometimes it just takes a trained listener to help you cope with and heal from the things that keep us stuck. I love being that person for others. I have been a practicing therapist for 7 years. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults. My primary work has been working the school with children and adolescents. I bring knowledge of both the school system and the stressors that children and adolescents deal with at school on a daily basis. I have a master of arts degree in mental health counseling. I am licensed in the state of Indiana. I have worked with a range of clients from the severe mentally ill to people who just need short term support. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, oppositional defiant disorder, and trauma. I’m very laid back and honest with others. I firmly believe that therapy is a partnership and it takes open communication to be successful. I typically use interventions from Cognitive Behavioral, Strengths Based, and Solution Focused therapies.

Have you been searching for an unbiased listening ear? A compassionate, safe space to talk it all out? A therapeutic relationship that can help you put all of the pieces together?
I have worked as a therapist for several years, becoming comfortable using evidence-based practices that have helped many individuals on their journey to wellbeing. Throughout sessions, you will find that I use a range of evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, solutions-focused therapy, and more. We will work together to find what might feel right for you personally. Whatever practice we use, I will be there to provide genuine care and unconditional positive regard. I will guide you in recognizing your own inner strength, learning what unique strategies help to optimize your mental health, and processing through your human experience. When collaborating with me, you will find that I emphasize mindfulness-based practices which are designed to help us be more fully present for each moment of our lives. I want to help every individual I work with find out what truly nourishes their mind and body and connects them to their heart and soul.
Life isn’t always a breeze- let’s work together to work through it!
